PPC cements relationship with Childline

PPC has cemented its relationship with Childline following confirmation that part of the proceeds from the 2020 edition of the 33 miler marathon will be donated to Childline. PPC recently handed over proceeds from the 2019 edition of the marathon at an event held at the Childline offices in Bulawayo.

The event which was graced by the Childline Zimbabwe board of trustees Matabeleland representative Mrs Passion Musa, saw the handover of 600 bags of cement, part of which will be used in the expansion of the organisations Bulawayo call center. The call center is a four seater and plans are to expand it to a 20 seater.

Mrs Musa thanked PPC for the gesture.

“I would like to thank PPC for this gesture. It is good to have corporates who feel the need to play a part in the work that we do as Childline. PPC has demonstrated that they are a true friend of the children of Zimbabwe through this gesture,” she said.

PPC general manager Nqabutho Maphuma said PPC would continue to play its corporate social responsibility part, pledging to strengthen the relationship with Childline.

“When we see and hear the stories of what the children go through and the calls you respond to, it only pushes us to want to do more to help. Next year’s marathon will be in aid of Childline again. We at PPC believe like our tag line that there is strength guaranteed in partnerships,” he said.

Preparations for the 2020 marathon are already underway and PPC business development manager Roger Steyn says they are hoping for an increased number of participants.

“we are hoping to get as many as 5 thousand people to come through. I have to thank Childline though for the fantastic job at the water points during the previous event. We are hoping the same will happen in 2020. The marathon continues to grow and we want it to grow even bigger than it is now,” said Steyn.

The next marathon is set for March 2020.
